What would be the best/safest/easiest way(s) to remove grass from mulch at the base of trees. It seems I can get my bermuda to grow anywhere I don't want it to and no where I want it to! It seems if I dig and pull, I typically snap the root which results in the grass growing back. Do they make a safe spray that kills the grass and doesn't affect the tree?

That is so true about Bermuda grass. Reading and following the label is important on spraying. I have used Round up (Glyphosate ) successfully for many years on areas you are describing. I don't spray on windy day because the chemical can drift in the air and could damage plants. Be careful around dogwood trees especially. Great question.
